Independently Contracted Therapist

Hi! My name is Tammy, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Kentucky. I have gained my level two training in the Gottman Method of Couple’s Therapy as well as received my Therapeutic Art Life Coach Certification from Transformation Academy.

As a narrative therapist, I view life as a story filled with many different kinds of chapters. Some good. Some not so good. Some easy. Some not so easy. But all worthy of being read. I’m not sure how you would describe your current chapter, but I want you to know this chapter matters and you’re not alone as you turn each page. I view therapy as a way of inviting a minor character into a client’s story to help deconstruct problem-saturated narratives while reconstructing a new identity in a way that feels safe, confidential, and hopeful.

My physical office is located in Louisville, Kentucky. However, I also provide online counseling services through webcam to anyone living within the state. This allows me to be available to clients who are unable to leave their homes or would simply prefer a home setting.

Before moving to Louisville, I worked as a school-based therapist in Eastern Kentucky where I provided therapeutic services to children ranging in age from five to eighteen years old as well as offered family therapy as needed in order to help these children gain the most from their therapy sessions. I have also worked with incarcerated women who are trying to regain their footing in life as well as counseled couples before and after getting married. Before becoming a therapist, I was a middle and high school English teacher and loved helping my students see their own lives through the lens of the characters we read about in short stories and novels. I earned a BS in Middle School Education from Kentucky Christian University, a Master of Arts in Education from Georgetown College, and a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Campbellsville University.

I feel called to this profession and love helping my clients in many different chapters of their lives. I incorporate solution-focused therapy and cognitive behavior therapy into my sessions while working from a family-systems approach. I am passionate about seeing my clients make positive changes in their lives and become better-equipped for whatever their next chapter may hold. I am committed to confidentiality and strive to make each client feel safe, understood, and cared for as he/she takes the steps needed to reach their therapy goals while experiencing positive personal and relational growth.

My own life story contains several devastating chapters, but I believe the things I learned from those pages in my life have transformed me into the person I am today and have developed within me the empathy and compassion necessary for helping others face their own painful chapters.

I am currently working with clients presenting with a wide variety of issues and would be honored to work with you as you begin this critical but rewarding chapter in your life story.

Here are some of the areas in which I feel especially called and equipped to help:

Depression – Anxiety
